Work Skills (Construction)
This is a unique traineeship for participants undertaking a project-based work placement on a Queensland Government funded training program. It is focussed on developing vocational and employability skills for long-term unemployed and disadvantaged job seekers and providing them with more pathways into employment and vocational qualifications. Skills and confidence will be developed on the job in the context of a community-based project. The Work Skills Traineeship includes three qualification streams as options with only one qualification required to undertake the traineeship.
* PLEASE NOTE: Students undertaking a qualification as part of a Skilling Queenslanders for Work - Work Skills Traineeship, have a full exemption from the student contribution fee (User Choice 2021-25 policy).
- Full-time
- Part-time - only in those instances where a Work Skills Traineeships project, which includes part-time work arrangements, has been approved by the Department of Trade, Employment and Training (DTET).
- School-based - School students are not eligible to participate on work placement projects.
There is no requirement for a supervising registered training organisation (SRTO) to undertake an employer resource assessment for trainees undertaking a SQW Work Skills Traineeship.
As there is no requirement to undertake an ERA, in addition to Work Skills Traineeships being entry-level qualifications to provide trainees with an introduction to the specified industry, its culture, occupations, job roles and expectations, the workplace supervisor is not required to meet the definition of a 'qualified person' as per the Declaration of Apprenticeships and Traineeships in Queensland policy.
Declaration Policy
This Policy outlines the regulatory requirements for parties involved in the training to ensure that the apprentice or trainee receives quality training as agreed under the training plan.

School-based Policy
